KEY WEST: THE TOP 10 THINGS TO DO

Hello everybody and welcome to the Florida Keys. In today’s video, I’m going to disclose my top 10 things to do in Key West. I’m journeying, going with my RV Wherever I want to be Because I’m free, in my RV.

Number 10, Southernmost Point. You know perform the line, take the picture, get it out of the direction. You know it’s not really the Southernmost Point, right?   Number 9, Mile Marker 0 of US-1. Unlike Southernmost Point, this truly mile marker zero of US-1, the longest north-south street in the United States. The other goal at at Fort Kent, Maine, right by the border with Canada. It does get a little colder up there.

Number 8, Truman’s Little White House. Trump has Mar-a-Lago, Kennedy had his Palm Beach estate, Reagan had his ranch in Santa Barbara, and Truman, well Truman had The Little White House in Key West.

Fascinating record happened in this location and don’t even act about taking out your camera. Photography is forbidden because even to this day, it is an official presidential mansion.

Number 7, Hemingway‘s House. One of the first homes in small island developing to have indoor plumbing, a second flooring lavatory with flowing irrigate, or a state of the art swimming bath, for that is important. It is also the place where the “Snows of Kilimanjaro” and “To Have and Have Not” were written. Ascertain the polydactyl “cat-o-nine-tails”? They’re direct heirs of Hemingway‘s felines.

This was the writer’s home during his 30 s where reference is are applied to repeated adjacent Sloppy Joe’s pretty much daily as the floor proceeds.

Sloppy Joe’s, Number 6.  Whether it is the Bull and Whistle Bar, the clothing-optional Garden of Eden on the top floor, Sloppy Joe’s, Captain Tony‘s which was the original site of Sloppy Joe’s, the Smallest Bar, well there are too many to mention here.

Please drink responsibly or not.

Number 5,  Eat Some Seafood. There are a plethora of good diners in the Conch Republic and I’m going to recommend any in particular because honestly, most of them are really good.

Number 4, consider a carnival. Be it Fantasy Fest or Lobster Fest, whatever you’re in to, it is guaranteed to be a lot of merriment.

Number 3, Sunset Cruise. It is a cliche, but it is incredibly dreamy and lots of enjoyable extremely if you go on the one that has the open rail. Talking about cruising.

Number 2, stay Dry Tortugas National Park. A hop on the boat or make the seaplane either to understand historic Fort Jefferson or snorkel all over the moat wall or really to be at this beautiful, remote archipelago.

Number 1, Mallory Square Sunset Celebration. Nothing does Key West as much as joining the crowds and street performers at this daily lore here in the Conch Republic. While you are there, have a Mojito in my honor at the outdoor table at El Meson de Pepe, listening to salsa music as the sunshine pitches. And that’s my top ten. I know you can also go to a sea, although nothing of them are great.

Do some snorkeling, boat, kayaking, but nothing of those things are unique to Key West. Okay, if you must go to a beach, Honorable Mention, the beach at Fort Zachary is Key West‘s better prevent mystery. Now, what is your top 10? Did I miss anything? Florida Travel: Dry Tortugas: Remote Island Camping in the Keys

We are here on Dry Tortugas, the most remote national park in the continental United States. This assembly of islands is 70 miles west of Key West, Florida. But I’m warning you, there’s no sea or electricity for campers, but if you’re up for an adventure, I promise you, this is the ultimate Florida camping experience. – When you come out just for the day, you still get to see a good deal of the interesting things. But it’s traffic jam hour for us. I entail, 150 beings on a 16 -acre island of Garden Key is pretty crowded, believe it or not. When “you’re here” after the ship buds, you have pretty much the entire island unto yourself, except for whatever other campers may be here. Maybe a few staff on hand, but some of the best available dark skies you’ll watch. Great snorkeling in the afternoon. And you really have a sense of calm and solace that you can’t find anywhere else in the Keys.

– I would say delivering a kayak. There’s really cool stuff that you can do if you are able to kayak out a half mile, or even out to Loggerhead, which is three miles across. And you can do a good deal of good snorkeling, just right here on the castle, but if you introduce a kayak with you, there are lots of hulks and events that you can do precisely offshore that are pretty cool. – And as much as is camping in Florida, it’s relatively bug-free. No mosquitoes cause there’s no fresh water. And there’s usually a breeze, so it’s been a nice camping know, more. – Be sure and diary early on the ferrying,’ lawsuit we are staying quite booked.

They only bring out eight campers and upwards of only 3 lights per stand per group. And then, really is well aware of the territory out here. I want, you’re on your own. There is no placed to buy goods out here, so you were supposed to wreaking everything this is necessary with you because formerly you’re hearing that barge leave, it’s just you and whatever you returned. – You know what the best part about tenting on Dry Tortugas is? At the end of the working day, when all the crowds have gone home, you get this whole target everyone to yourself ..

Florida Travel: Key Largo to Key West: Best of the Keys

Florida-Keys

For this post, we start in Key Largo and make our way all the way down to Key West, as we share with you some of our greatest memories of filming in the Florida Keys. But first up, we go to Key Largo, and take you on an undersea petting zoo adventure. You are  going to love it. Something we call the creature feature. One of the best dives in the area is Captain Slate’s Creature Feature. He and his underwater pets have entertained divers for over 30 years. Over the years, Captain Slate has made a name for himself by his extreme, and some would say bizarre, a method of feeding these creatures. (light music) On our descent to the bottom, I was amazed at how quickly the fish gathered once they saw Captain Slate was coming. What an experience to be so close to these spectacular fish. The main event of the creature feature would be watching Captain Slate feed Psycho the barracuda. I do want to stress not to try this on your own, as Captain Slate has been feeding in this area for over 30 years, and has developed a rapport with these creatures.

The dive lasts about 30 minutes at 40 feet down. So it’s a great experience for beginning divers.

That is because, even though the Florida Keys is technically a part of Florida, it just looks and feel like a whole other place down here. It’s an absolute Mecca for fishing, water sports, and a cool, laid-back lifestyle like nowhere else in the Sunshine State. Experiencing the Florida Keys is one of my favorite ways to do Florida.

Key Largo to Key West:

Video Summary:

Today we begin in Key Largo, and also make our way all the way down to Key West, as we share with you some of our finest memories. But first up, we take you on an undersea petting zoo experience, and go to Key Largo. You’re going to love it. One of the greatest dives in the place is Captain Slate’s Creature Feature. He and his pets that were underwater have entertained divers for over 30 years. Through the years, Captain Slate has formed a name for himself by his extreme, and some would say eccentric, process of feeding these creatures.

What an experience to be close to these spectacular fish. The key event of the creature feature could be seeing Captain Slate feed Psycho the barracuda. I do need to to stress as Captain Slate continues to be feeding in this place for more than 30 years to not try this on your own, and has developed a rapport with one of these creatures. The dive lasts about thirty minutes at 40 feet down. Therefore it’s a fantastic experience for beginning divers. Investigating marine life underwater, unquestionably among the most awesome ways to do Florida. Hey, next up it is back casting, with a bit of stripping, as we show you how to do fly fishing and line management. Our day would start early, with a 45-minute boat ride into the Everglades National Park.

[Larry] Good job, guy. Observe your line, keep it away from your own feet. And it’s the best fish, a snook, delightful. Writer Isaac Walton called fly fishing the contemplative man’s recreation. Well, Isaac was right, because I spent most of the day considering what the heck I was doing. This where you set your hand right here, Larry? A sport in all my life has never so humbled me. It was clearly one of the very intense and enjoyable fishing experiences I Have ever had.

As we show you the way to do lobstering to tickle a number of the most tasty bugs on this particular planet. Lobstering in the Florida Keys is a longstanding Florida convention. It’s as if Spanish gold is sprinkled all throughout the Keys every year. And the treasure hunt is on. Islamorada is one of the premier places to hunt lobster. It is lots of persistence and also fun, safe, and having a little luck, you’ll be feasting on among God’s best gifts to man, the Florida spiny lobster. The water is warm and wonderful. And more to the point, accessible to snorklers. And also you is able to see where they get their name, they are full of– – [Guide] Whoa. – They’re full of spines, and they are slick. Lobstering definitely gets into your blood.

Wish to test another spot? We are trying to find lobster, so we have got to keep looking. Whew! I found myself getting excited about bringing my family down here to have lobstering in the Florida Keys, which is really a unique Florida encounter. I’d encourage you to come down here and give it a go. And now, we’re taking the international highway to its final stop. That is right, the southernmost city, Key West, as we show you the way to do wreck diving in America.

This retired US Air Force missile tracking ship was deliberately sunk off the coast of Key West in May of 2009. With her final mission complete, the USS Vandenburg is now the second-largest artificial reef in the world. The superstructure is only 45 feet below the top, which makes it a simple, accessible dive, since this boat is really massive. Wreck diving does not compare to any other diving experience I’ve ever had. Descending into the depths, seeing the remains of a once-great military boat resting in peace, was mystical and exciting. The life that appeared from all was inspiring, mesmerizing, and unforgettable. The locals call the islands which make up the Florida Keys the Conch Republic. That is because, despite the fact that the Florida Keys is technically a part of Florida, it simply looks and feel like a whole other area down here. It is an absolute Mecca for water sports fishing, and also a cool, laid back lifestyle like in the Sunshine State. Experiencing the Florida Keys is certainly one of my personal favorite approaches to do Florida.
